Roath Park & Forest Farm 08/07/2016

Took a walk around Roath Park on Friday and checked out the lily pads near the bridge below the dam, only Azure damsels seen but plenty of them.

There were also plenty of Azure and Common Blues on the side vegetation at the top of the lake.

In the wild wood area there were only Common Blues to be found.

Whats worrying not a single Dragon was seen but it got worse, at Forest Farm I did not see a single Damselfly or Dragonfly on or near the canal or the two ponds!!

Penallta & Parc Cwm Darran 03/07/2016

A few Dragonfly at the horse-shoe ponds at Penallta, a male Emperor patrolling a pool with a female Emperor ovipositing, also a male Broad-bodied Chaser on the same pool.

On the next pool were two female Four-spotted Chasers

There were a few Damsels about, Blue-tailed and Large Reds

Then onto PCD where they have dug out another pool next to the other two pools where again a male Emperor was patroling and a female Emperor was ovipositing, on the new pool two Broad-bodied Chasers were fighting over control. In the bank vegetation I found a male Keeled Skimmer.

There were also Damselflies here Large Reds some in tandem, Blue-tailed and Azure.

Pysgodlyn Mawr & Llanerch Wood 05/06/2016

Warm and sunny which meant that the Dragons were vey active at Pysgodlyn Mawr, I did see Two Four-spotted Chasers along with Three Downy Emeralds but they did not come close enough for me to get a picture. There were the usual Damsels; Large Red, Azure and Blue-tailed with alot of them in tandem and in the cart-wheel position and some ovipositing.

Then moved on to Llanerch Wood where the Damsels were Red-Eyed, Azure and Blue-tailed with One Dragon a Male Broad-bodied Chaser.

Llanerch 02 June

A brief visit to Llanerch this morning - lots of Blue-tailed Damselflies and quite a few Azure around the larger pond. However on the smaller, western pond this changed to lots of Red-eyed - several in tandem and ovipositing.

Parc Cwm Darran 29/05/2016

After Penallta I had a look around PCD and again only found Large Red Damselflies and no other Damsels, although I did come across this Male Beautiful Demoiselle with the wings not properly formed.

I also found a Male Broad-bodied Chaser.

Penallta Parc 29/05/2016

Sunday I spent a few hours at the horse shoes ponds at Penallta where there were alot of Large Red Damselflies and no others. Although I did find a newly emerged Four-spotted Chaser and a Dragon Larvae (not yet identified).

I then moved on to P.C.D.
